Kahn suggested an NBA executive sometimes has to expand his mind and his thinking when he explained the drafting of both Rubio and Flynn, a decision that raised eyebrows in front offices across the league.
He said he still believes Flynn and Sessions can, and will, play well together, even if his coach doesn’t so far agree.
“I wouldn’t read too much into what Kurt is saying on that,” Kahn said last week. “All of us are in a position for a grand total of 25 days and six games. I don’t know how things will play out. I don’t think that will become an issue because I do expect them at some point to be out there together. But I’m never going to poke my in nose in there. That’s for Kurt to determine.”

That’s because Rambis knows it will be a long journey to turn around the Timberwolves. At least Rambis, 51, believes he is much better prepared to be a head coach than he was when he unexpectedly took over the Lakers during the chaotic lockout season, going 24-13 with a team that would win the next three NBA titles under Jackson.
“I like challenges,” Rambis said of why leading the young Timberwolves appealed to him. “I like the pieces in this team very much. Al Jefferson is one of the best back-to-the-basket players that’s in the NBA. Jonny Flynn has a chance to be very special point guard. I’m excited about the possibly of Ricky Rubio. I love Kevin Love. He’s so talented in many areas… (The length of contract) gives me the time, when we have all the pieces that we’ve added, to develop and grow this team and turn it around.”
Two of Minnesota’s best-known businessmen have launched a bid to become minority owners of the Star Tribune.
Glen Taylor, owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Minneapolis publisher Vance Opperman want to acquire 25 percent to 35 percent of the newspaper’s equity. Their offer is valued at $6.25 million to $8.75 million.
