Rambis doesn’t know yet when the Joliet, Ill., native will get his first chance to do that with the Wolves — maybe Friday night against Orlando, maybe next week. But he’s intrigued by the new addition.
“He picks up stuff real quick. There’s still nothing like putting your body through it at game speed, with a defense on you. But he understands the game,” Rambis said. “The door was likely closed to him in Phoenix, but we get a free look at a high draft pick, and that’s hard to turn down.”

Former University of Minnesota men’s basketball coach Clem Haskins attended Thursday’s practice with his son, Brent, a Wolves scout.
Brent Haskins asked Rambis if he could bring his father to the practice, and Rambis consented. Clem Haskins has been in the Twin Cities most of the week to participate in celebrations honoring the 20-year anniversary of the Gophers advancing to the Mideast Regional of the NCAA tournament.

Haskins and his players from the 1989-90 team were honored at halftime of Tuesday night’s Gophers-Penn State game at Williams Arena. Wolves players and coaches talked with Haskins after practice.
