Jefferson’s 26-point, 26-rebound night broke by one rebound Kevin Garnett’s franchise record for rebounds in a game. He is the ninth NBA player in the past 15 years to have a 25-25 game.
Orlando’s Dwight Howard was the last to do it, with a 30-point, 25-rebound game at Golden State on Jan. 10, 2007. Garnett is the only other Timberwolf to do so, with a 33-point, 25-rebound game on Dec. 5, 2003, at Sacramento.
“I was shocked when I saw how many minutes I played,” Jefferson said after he playfully ended Thursday practice in Memphis by screaming for ice for his knees. “I felt pretty good. My knees are sore today. I’m mad at Brew because he made that shot. If we had won, I’d have been happy.'”

At practice the other day, chatting with Wayne Ellington for a piece that will be on Sports Final on CW-23 this Sunday at 10pm and he has some interesting observations. No longer struggling but getting playing time and contributing, Ellington has lost more games in his very short NBA career than his entire pre-Professional basketball experience. High school to the Tar Heels, 32-losses is a lot for the former number-1 draft choice. But he’s got a very open mind about it. “This is a bump in the road. We are coming together as a team, we’re winning and losing together, we’re growing and we ARE getting better. Some people might not see it but we sure do. Yeh, I remember the losses back then. Weren’t many of them. But we’ll get this turned around”.

Sources said it will take a lot more than a player like Jefferson, who is averaging just below 18 points per game so far this season, to get Bird to part with Granger. Jefferson has three years and $42 million left on his contract after this season.
