Trying out something new here with something called the Aftermath. We have tried to do Gameday Threads with each of our writers updating during the day but we found out shortly with most of us working jobs other than blogging that we weren’t up to the task.
This will be a quick look back at the game that was with an advanced stats look to it. Many nights it may be short, sweet and to the point. Other nights you may see myself or someone else on the blog giving you an in depth look into one moment or another.
So without further ado…
Highlights:
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The Good: Kevin “Naughty Boy” Connauton
Not only did Connauton score the game winning goal yesterday, he was also the even strength Corsi leader for the Jackets along with his defensive partner James Wisniewski at 66%. Connauton has shared time with Erixon recently with middling results, he put a big stamp on the team after the goal. It was great to see that the process leading up to the “Naughty Boy’s” goal with him charging up ice with little to no gas in the tank. It makes for an interesting decision for Head Coach Todd Richards, with more defensemen coming back in the near future, who will be sent down to make room? It seems that Erixon may be the odd man out in this situation, look for my article later this week chronicling Erixon’s play versus Connauton’s.
The Bad: Dubinsky’s usage
While I firmly believe that Brandon Dubinsky is the Blue Jackets number 2 center, I really believe he should be eased back into action. No need to push him to extremes so early especially after a very serious abdominal injury. Dubinsky saw 19:09 this evening in ice time, which placed him 3rd among forwards. An amount of time Dubinsky normally relishes and handles quite well he only was able to muster a 36% even strength CF%. His deployment wasn’t any better either, he saw zero offensive zone draws. Let us hope Dubinsky in the short term is able to pick it back up because his presence alone seemed to galvanize the rest of the team.
The Ugly: That Late Goal
A series of @RedditCBJ tweets will summarize my feelings adequately on this late goal.

He doesn’t need to blog to often to still make an impact, eh?
Tweet of the Game:
After his 3rd period gems, Mark makes sure to end strongly and he gets Tweet of the Game honors.
