The Daily Haymaker: March 18

Consumables:

New Tommy Toe Hold’s Sack
Jim Lampley on Fox Sports Primetime

Round 1: Fight!
HBO and Golden Boy Break Up, Taylor Swift-style.

(Well this is certainly something. And that something is not good for Golden Boy Promotions. When you take away options, you take away leverage. HBO loses Hopkins and Broner, but gets to feature more guys from Top Rank and independent promoters, and Showtime can lowball the shit out of GBP now. Both HBO and Showtime put a 10-8 on De La Hoya.)

Round 2: Fight!
South Dakota finally looking into regulating MMA.

(About goddamned time. Welcome to 2013, South Dakota. 10-9 residents of South Dakota, because dammit, they deserve something good. Next up on the agenda, repealing prohibition!)

Round 3: Fight!
Badr Hari’s Foot Not Broken, Could Fight in May.

(After his foot injury that forced him out of the Grand Prix finals against Cro Cop, this is good news that it’s not, in fact, broken, but it’s a sprained ankle…allllright. 10-9 Badr for once again successfully trolling kickboxing fans.)

Who Won The Day?
Fucking Bob Arum. That’s who. He runs the whole show at HBO now and can throw as many of his fighters as he pleases on HBO’s screens now. Big win for that asshat.
