Fighter Diaries: Kenny Booker Part IV

(Kenny is fighting December 13 at XFO 49 and in the meantime he’ll be checking in with us to lend a peek behind the scenes of what goes on in a fighter’s life.)

Welcome to another edition of Gorilla’s boring life!  Hope everyone’s life has been pleasurable.  To be honest training has been the same, just upping the intensity a bit and preparing mentally which is the hard part of fighting.  Sparring is going good, timing is almost perfect, and cardio is up to par, so I must say I’m feeling great.

Only thing that’s happened that I wish didn’t is my niece, Maddy’s, house caught on fire.  Electrical fire destroyed everything, if not the fire the smoke damage.  Good thing was nobody was home and the animals were outside so everyone’s safe.  Like my uncle Sak says all the stuff in the house can be replaced, which is definitely true and a great way to think. I never realized how many people cared until all the calls and text of family & friends wanting to give.  Touched me like I’ve never felt before. So S/O to my Rockford, IL fam for the love and support!  You may remember me talking about Maddy in part II, luckily for her all her medals and belts of her years of dedication to Jiu-Jitsu were unscathed.

I am constantly counting down the days till weigh-ins and fight night, So those early morning runs help with thinking so much. To keep my mind off of MMA I was looking forward to the Pacquiao VS Rios fight. If you didn’t already know I’m a boxer at heart and love it!  The thing that really bothers me about well combat sports in general is how easy is it for fans to turn they’re back on you. Just the way writers and so called experts just threw Pacquiao out to the trash like his career was over!  The opinions of people who know NOTHING about the sport with outlandish statements are all IDIOTS.  That guy is greatness who masterfully outclassed his 8-year younger opponent Brandon Rios.  Just too fast with power, great footwork, head movement and just an all-around smart fighter. So to all the casual fans I say to you……YOU DONT KNOW SHIT ABOUT BOXING! (™ Roger Mayweather).  Actually rewatching as I write this with Pacquiao vs De La Hoya coming on next  🙂

So with that being said I’m just under 3 weeks from kicking ass….to all you guys reading these things, I graciously thank you for wanting to read my awkward thoughts and feelings. Catch you guys on the flip side (it’s corny, I know).
