Heavyweight Bout: Antonio Silva (18-5) vs. Mark Hunt (9-8)
Luke Irwin: It’s as simple as this: I don’t trust Bigfoot’s chin to last for 25 minutes against Mark Hunt. That’s a ton of time and only one punch needs to happen. I love Silva, he makes me absurdly happy when he wins, but his chin is a pane of glass and Mark Hunt is a bulldozer. Five rounds is about four too many for Antonio to withstand. Hunt via R2 KO.
Earl Montclair: Few things on this planet make me happier than seeing a huge smile on Bigfoot Silva’s face. His exuberance and unmasked joy after the beatings he put on Fedor, Travis Browne and Alistair Overeem are some of my favorite MMA moments. One of the things that makes me happier than a smiling Bigfoot is anything Mark Hunt does. I know one thing for sure and that is that if you give Mark Hunt a target the size of a continent to put his mitts on, he will do it in style. Mark Hunt, Massive KO, Round 1.
TC Engel: I don’t see why Hunt is getting so much love here. Sure, he has outstanding power, but I don’t see him staying on his feet long enough to do anything with it. Silva via R1 TKO. Are we still friends Nolan?
Dan Galvan: I really would love to see Mark Hunt win this one. That’s a sentiment that is shared by a lot of MMA fans, but I just think if he fights Antonio Silva ten times, he catches him with punches what, three of those times? Techinically, Silva is the better fighter no question, but Hunt does have five rounds to work with to send Silva’s chin into press row. Still, I’ll take the safer pick in Antonio Silva. Nolan Howell: Hnggggggggggg. My pick will be biased, but this fight worries me either way. Bigfoot can certainly end this fight should it go to the ground or Hunt gets too confident on the feet. However, Hunt has stuffed takedowns from men just as big and equally as competent. I think this stays on the feet and Hunt has lightyears of speed over Bigfoot. Left hook, overhand right, Bigfoot’s head goes into flight! Hunt by first-round KO.
Light Heavyweight Bout: James Te Huna (16-6) vs. Mauricio Rua (21-8)
Luke Irwin: I think this will be a terrific fight, but I think, I hope, but I think Rua will realize that he’s not a Rock’em-Sock’em Robot and remembers he’s a mixed martial artist and pull a submission out of his bag against the one-dimensional Te Huna. Rua via R2 submission.
Earl Montclair: I hate to say it but I got a bad feeling that Shogun is going to get beat down something awful here. I really think that him getting tapped by a blown up Middleweight in Chael Sonnen was just the latest episode in his decline. The Vera, Mauler and Chael fights were him circling the drain and as sad as it makes me, this will be the one that sinks him. James Te Huna, KO, Round 2.
TC Engel: This should be fireworks. Shogun’s time is up. te Huna hits hard. He gon knock a fool out. te Huna via R1 KO.
Dan Galvan: After just getting run through by Chael Sonnen, questions about Shogun being competely done started to creep up in the dark recesses of my mind. I’ll stick with the former champ for old time’s sake. Shogun via Decision.
Ben Kohn: Yes Rua has definitely diminished as a fighter but there are a few things he still does well. One is take punches; the other is hit people hard. Te Huna is a boxer with no submission game to speak of and although Shogun could take advantage of that, I see him trying to brawl with Te Huna and Te Huna’s chin is just not able to take the punishment that Shogun’s can. So with that thought in mind, Shogun by KO Round 1.
Nolan Howell: Rua has more skills here and a lot more milage, but going upset. Te Huna hits like a truck and he is pretty sharp on the feet. Barring an underhooks trip, I expect one to slip through and put Shogun in some trouble. Te Huna by first-round TKO.
Light Heavyweight Bout: Anthony Perosh (14-7) vs. Ryan Bader (15-4)
Luke Irwin: As absolutely giddy as it would make me, this is an absurd mismatch, and Bader should have no problem ground and pounding Perosh out…unfortunately. Bader via R1 TKO.
Earl Montclair: The Hippo is one of my favorite fighters. I find him so entertaining and just thoroughly endearing. The man was brought in to get carved up by Cro Cop (which he did) and has managed to parlay that into a pretty fantastic UFC run. Ryan Bader is Ben Kohn’s favorite fighter which is as inexplicable as someone’s favorite menu item at Taco Bell being an Enchirito but I digress. Using my heart pick here in this fight. Anthony Perosh, Submission, Round 2.
TC Engel: I desperately want Perosh to win to spite Ben, but that just isn’t a thing that’s going to happen. Bader’s going to take him down and break his soul in #JIMMOTIME fashion. Bader via R2 TKO.
Dan Galvan: Random observation, this is the third straight card Perosh and Te Huna have fought on the same card. On those cards, Perosh has gone 2-1, so using hardcore analytics, I’ll pick Perosh. #STATZ Perosh via 2nd KO.
Ben Kohn: Bader is a decent MMA wrestler with lots of power. Perosh is a good submission grappler with good power as well. Both can be hurt with strikes but Bader looked really good against Glover until getting knocked out. I think he will do what he does to all the grapplers that aren’t as good as him on the feet (Vladdy, Brilz) and that knock Perosh out. Ryan Bader by KO Round 1.
Nolan Howell: Hahahahahahaha. Ryan Bader wins this fight everywhere, except the fact that he is Ryan Bader can negate all that. Perosh by first-round KO.
Heavyweight Bout: Pat Barry (8-6) vs. Soa Palelei (19-3)
Luke Irwin: Every single time Palelei has taken a step up in competition against someone who can actually strike, he’s been finished easily. When he’s fighting cartoon characters like Henry Miller and Bob Sapp, he looks like a million bucks. He’s not going to throw anything at Pat he hasn’t seen before and Pat Barry is a legitimate striker. Sweet dreams. Barry via R1 KO.
Earl Montclair: Pat Barry shouldn’t even have to wear fight shorts for this. He could knock Soa into another universe wearing tighty whiteys and a Burger King crown. Pat Barry, K-1 Level Striking, Round 1.
TC Engel: THIS CARD IS GOING TO BE SO FUN YOU GUYS. And also incredibly one sided. Barry via R1 KO.
Dan Galvan: The skills as Pat Barry as a fighter have slowly but surely become drastically undervalued. The dude is one of the best strikers in the heavyweight division period, whose biggest flaw is getting sucked into wild fights. Expect him to rebound with a victory in this one. Barry via 2nd TKO.
Ben Kohn: So apparently Soa is a BJJ blackbelt which no one would have guessed after his fight with Krylov. Barry is a kickboxer with power in his hands and feet and I would love a leg kick TKO so that’s what I’m picking. Pat Barry TKO Round 1 by leg kicks.
Nolan Howell: This will probably be a fight where Barry bombs Palelei on the feet, but Palelei has the tools to win this. Despite Barry’s stunning ability to win fights he shouldn’t and lose ones where he has the edge, I will go against conventional wisdom. Palelei by first-round TKO.
Middleweight Bout: Clint Hester (8-3) vs. Dylan Andrews (17-4)
Luke Irwin: On the main card, eh? Ugh. Andrews via R3 submission.
Earl Montclair: I am glad Clint Hester is here because I cannot wait to hear Bruce Buffer say “Headbussa” but this is absolutely a hometown showcase for Dylan Andrews, who showed absurd toughness in his last fight winning a UD with a shoulder that virtually refused to stay in place. I don’t think he gets a finish here but this will not be close. Dylan Andrews, Unanimous Decision.
TC Engel: I’m banking on Hester making good on his significant advantages in the areas of explosiveness and athleticism in a surprise win. Hester via R2 submission.
Dan Galvan: No Contest.
Ben Kohn: Hester is a boxer with power although he showed some diversity with an elbow knockout. Andrews is a kickboxer with good grappling to boot. Both have most of their wins by KO but Andrews is really tough and Hester is as well so I see this going to the judges. Dylan Andrews by Unanimous Decision.
Nolan Howell: This fight comes down to diversity of attack. I believe Andrews holds the edge there and it will show. Andrews by unanimous decision.
Women’s Bantamweight Bout: Bethe Correira (6-0) vs. Julie Kedzie (16-12)
Luke Irwin: Correira has a bright, bright future in this sport, but Kedzie is so goddamned tough and Bethe hasn’t faced anyone like her. Kedzie may not always get the W, but she can stand in with any woman on this planet and deliver a fantastic fight. Not yet, Bethe. Kedzia via UD.
Earl Montclair: Bums me out to say it but I think Julie is going to be 2 and done in the UFC. Bethe Correia, Unanimous Decision.
TC Engel: I’m as shocked as anyone that they’re letting a mediocre Pirates pitcher fight in the women’s division, but I’m excited to see how Kevin does. Kedzie via UD.
Dan Galvan: This is a fantastic opportunity for Bethe Correia. Julie Kedzie is a name fighter on the verge of being released by the UFC. Nevertheless, I expect Julie Kedzie to keep her job with a definitive victory. Kedzie via Decision.
Ben Kohn: Kedzie is tough as nails and has faced much better competition than Bethe and I think it will show in their fight. Julie Kedzie by Unanimous Decision.
Nolan Howell: If you say the weigh-in, you know Kedzie ain’t scared, homie. Too many tools in the toolbelt for Kedzie, who can just outgame Correira en route to a decision. Kedzie by unanimous decision.
Bantamweight Bout: Nam Phan (18-11) vs. Takeya Mizugaki (18-7-2)
Luke Irwin: Interesting bout here, and Phan is as game as they come, but I think Mizu just has a little bit more than Nam at every station. Because it’s Mizu and because it’s Nam, expect another controversial decision. Mizugaki via SD.
Earl Montclair: This fight being announced reminded me that Nam Phan is still fighting. This fight taking place will remind everyone that Takeya Mizugaki is awesome. Takeya Mizugaki, Dominant UD.
TC Engel: Nam Phan is the worst. Mizugaki via UD.
Dan Galvan: Both fighters have a history of fighting to the level of their opponent and keeping it close, so the fight should play out class. With that being said, Takeya Mizugaki has really looked solid in his has past three fights. Also, who knows how Phan will look in the new weight class. Mizugaki via Decision.
Ben Kohn: Mizugaki is on a roll and has looked great in his past few bouts. Phan is dropping to Bantamweight and I think it’s a good move although I don’t think it will be enough. Mizugaki should outstrike him to a decision win to make it 4 in a row. Takeya Mizugaki by Unanimous Decision.
Nolan Howell: Mizugaki should win this fight. Everything is in his favor, despite Phan having some pretty slick boxing. Still, I like Mizugaki’s well-roundedness here to carry him to a decision over a less skilled guy in an awesome fight. Mizugaki by unanimous decision.
Middleweight Bout: Caio Magalhaes (6-1) vs. Nick Ring (13-2)
Luke Irwin: I kinda like Magalhaes, but he’s going against a veteran in Ring who knows how to pull out a win. Ring via SD.
Earl Montclair: To anyone picking Magalhaes here all i have to say is “Oh no you di int!” Nick Ring, Unanimous Decision.

Dan Galvan: Neither fighter would convince me to fork over any money to buy a UFC digital subscription service, but Nick Ring seems like a nice fellow. Ring via Decision.
Ben Kohn: Caio is a wild man on the feet and is dangerous because of that but Ring tends to win those grinding decision and I think that’s what will happen in this fight. Nick Ring by Unanimous Decision.
Nolan Howell: This fight screams a Ring decision. Magalhaes is dangerous, but I expect Ring to work a methodical pace to a decision here on the feet. Ring by unanimous decision.
Flyweight Bout: Justin Scoggins (7-0) vs. Richie Vaculik (9-1)
Luke Irwin: I’m just happy flyweight is getting some depth, even though I doubt either of these guys makes a mark. Scoggins via SD.
Earl Montclair: I will take Scoggins based on him have less crappy MMA tattooz, bro. Also, his last name is almost the same as my favorite bowler, Mike Scroggins. Justin Scoggins, Split Decision.
TC Engel: I like Vaculik on Smashes, which I regretably watched. Don’t know shit about Scoggins, but he has a badass name. Toss up. Vaculik via R3 submission.
Dan Galvan: The UFC did a great job in signing two under the radar talented flyweights in these two. I happen to like Justin Scoggins a tad bit more, he’s just run through everyone on the circuit. Scoggins via 1st KO.

Middleweight Bout: Bruno Santos (13-0) vs. Krzysztof Jotko (13-0)
Luke Irwin: I am a big Bruno Santos guy. I’ve seen him absolutely dominate the Brazilian indies and have been waiting for some promotion to take a gamble on him for years now. I think he is absolutely the real deal and cannot wait to see him work. Santos via UD.
Earl Montclair: Santos looks like a weird Manny Gamburyan/Igor Pokrajac/Renan Barao hybrid. Both these guys are 13-0 but Santos is very heavy on decisions in his fights. I think he will be able to impose his gameplan and control his way to a victory here. Bruno Santos, Unanimous Decision.
TC Engel: I was tempted to go with the guy with the cool last name, but Luke says Santos is good, so Santos via UD.
Dan Galvan: This is another match-up of stud prospects. Santos has more impressive name wins on his resume, whereas Jotko is the younger fighter who has the more impressive finishes. I’ve been aboard the Jotko bandwagon awhile, so I won’t waver here. Jotko via Decision.
Ben Kohn: Jotko is really tall, REACH!!!! Krzysztof Jotko by Unanimous Decision.
Nolan Howell: Bruno Santos is a decision machine and actually really good. Euro prospects are always something to be skeptical about. Santos by unanimous decision.
Welterweight Bout: Alex Garcia (10-1) vs. Ben Wall (7-0-1)
Luke Irwin: I’ve seen Wall for a couple years now and he’s legit. Garcia is making his UFC debut and is flying from Quebec to Australia. Not a good combo when Wall is Australian. Wall via R2 KO.
Earl Montclair: I am fairly certain Ben Wall is going to rob the jewelry store and tell em make me a grill. Alex Garcia, KO, Round 1.
TC Engel: I’m actually really confident in Wall here. Weird, weird guy, but I think he has the talent to make an impact in the back end of the division. Wall via UD.

Ben Kohn: Wall is coming in on really short notice and despite is interesting hair, I don’t see this fight going his way, especially since he is a decision fighter and didn’t have a full camp. I think Garcia can pick up a late finish over a tired Wall. Alex Garcia by TKO Round 3.
