Nolan Howell’s Get Po’ Quick Seminars: UFC Fight Night: Bader vs. Saint Preux

.

Not unlike tear gas, we are back when you least expect it.

Welcome to Undercard Superstar’s guide to gambling, where you can get po’ in one night if you play your cards right! As your resident financial guide, it is my responsibility to make sure lose enough money to ensure that you don’t buy the deluxe Jumanji blu-ray special edition director’s cut unrated box set. It is also my duty to inform you that Undercard Superstar and its partners are not responsible for your loss of money, pride, respect from your children and/or respective other, or any other valuables.

Today, we look at UFC Fight Night: Bader vs. St. Preux. Or, a boring ass fight card in a boring ass city in a boring ass state. Will there be any value? Unlike the fifty or so tickets that some people got conned into buying, maybe so.

Let’s get to it.

All lines provided by Bovada. Lines subject to change depending on the time of writing.

Undercard Values:

  • Frankie Saenz: -150 vs. Nolan Ticman: +120
  • Tom Watson: -120 vs. Sam Alvey: EVEN
  • Sara McMann: -550 vs. Lauren Murphy: +375
  • Zach Makovsky: -325 vs. Jussier da Silva: +250

Not much going on here, honestly. The opening fight is your usual pick ’em type of fight, so if you’re well-versed on the regionals, there may be some money to be made there. Sam Alvey is a reasonable dog, as his durability tends to carry him to outbrawl brawlers. Against Watson, that might not be enough. Finally, Jussier da Silva’s ground skills shouldn’t be discounted if Makovsky decides to take him to the mat. Still, nothing convincing enough to convince this frugal Frugals connoisseur to drop some dime.

Main Card Values:

  • Thiago Tavares: -175 vs. Robbie Peralta: +145
  • Shawn Jordan: -200 vs. Jack May: +180
  • Seth Baczynski: -150 vs. Alan Jouban: +120
  • Brad Tavares: -300 vs. Tim Boetsch: +230
  • Gray Maynard: +115 vs. Ross Pearson: -145
  • Ryan Bader: -185 vs. Ovince St. Preux: +150

Some low favorites are decent parlayable players. Looking at Ross Pearson, Shawn Jordan, and Thiago Tavares specifically. As far as live dogs, OSP has a chance based on him fighting Ryan Bader and the chance that Ryan Bader fights like Ryan Bader. Otherwise, my favorite dog here would have to be Alan Jouban against Baczynski. Jouban showed some chops in RFA and that should be a close one.

Final Thoughts:

This is a pick and choose card. If you have a major hankering to bet on this, have at it and you probably have a gambling problem that I couldn’t talk you out of anyhow. Otherwise, not much value at all going here.

My bets: $17 on Pearson, Tavares, and Jordan to win $50.71

Remember to never bet more than you can afford to lose!
