Another week has passed by and the hockey season is well under way. The Columbus Blue Jackets are 0-3-0, a mark no one could have anticipated. So naturally people are upset and they have questions they would like to ask, let’s answer them!
And as will always be the case you can tweet at us or email us each Monday at [email protected].
@BuckeyeStHockey how bad would the other defenders have to play before HCTR gave Cody Goluodbebrhcebbef a chance?

If you are a member of the Cody Goloubef fan club, you could be happy very shortly. As the team is trying to find its rhythm, they may look to switch things up. We’re not talking about a switch like a trade as that would be an overly drastic reaction, but a slight line up change could be just what the doctor ordered. After the Rangers games where the defenders hung Bobrovsky out to dry on a couple of occasions, it wouldn’t be surprising one bit going into the Ottawa game if something was changed and Goloubef was added.
Further, Goloubef is a strong defender. Although last season was shortened by injury for him, he was the strongest defender as far as possession last season and he is a viable option on the blue line in his own right. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t be on the roster.
So to answer Brandon’s question, the players themselves may have already played “poorly” enough for the him to enter the line up shortly.

It isn’t so much that they are stinking on ice, it is a mix of bad luck and undisciplined play. During the Buffalo game they surrendered seven power play opportunities which is completely unacceptable against any team, let alone the young and rising Sabres team. While the Rangers games don’t look great from a box score perspective, looking deeper at the advanced stats you see that the Blue Jackets dominated play both nights – especially when they were disciplined. Columbus controlled possession in at even strength both Friday (58.11% CF) and Saturday (62.39% CF). The problem during those games was defensive lapses and facing Henrik Lundqvist who played two exemplary games. The Jackets have yet to play a complete game where they put together all the pieces in a perfect hockey puzzle. This question then presents itself after thinking on it for a little while, do they have all the necessary pieces?

Well statistically speaking, in the modern NHL you will at least win one game. So if that is your worry you can scratch it, because the team will at some point win a game this year. The sentiment from many is “Why should I think this team is any different from years past?” Which is a completely valid question. You have seen this team fail in the past but you are here following this team now for one reason or another. It doesn’t matter if you like the team as a supporter of all things Columbus or if you are a die hard NHL fan, the success they have yet to attain on a regular basis will be that much sweeter once they attain their goal. Much like life, your team battles adversity so when they do succeed it means that much more.

No, not your dad. No, do not want to be.
Guess we asked for it when we also asked for questions about life too.
Until next week!
