Brandon Dubinsky out 2-3 weeks plus other news and notes

Columbus Blue Jackets v Phoenix Coyotes

In a bit of unfortunate news, it was announced by John Tortorella that Brandon Dubinsky will miss two to three weeks due to an elbow injury suffered at an unknown time.

This injury is a tough loss for the Blue Jackets as Dubinsky has been a steadying force for them. He has 11 points in 16 games this year, which is good enough to put him second on the team. When looking at his possession numbers at even strength we see that Dubinsky is at 51.4%CF and his CFRel is at +2.81% which puts him at third on the team among forwards only behind Hartnell and Atkinson. Not to be forgotten, his power play contribution will be missed as well, having scored three points thus far. Plain and simple, Dubinsky is a valuable piece for a team trying to get themselves out of the doldrums of the Metro Division.

Additional Notes:

  • Dalton Prout will be the healthy scratch this evening against the Coyotes. Ryan Murray must have impressed last night after he avoided a healthy scratch that only changed because of the status of Dubinsky.
  • Now that the Dubinsky news is official it was also announced today that Kerby Rychel was called up via an emergency recall. He will slot in this evening on the fourth line with Gregory Campbell and Jared Boll.
