Brandon Saad named All Star, Winter Park coming soon

doc and the fatman

Today it was announced that Brandon Saad was selected to the 2016 NHL All Star game in Nashville, Tennessee. The selection should come as no surprise, Saad is leading the team in goals with 16 and is second place in points with 29. It really could have been a coin flip between Scott Hartnell and himself as they both are both having wonderful seasons. This is the first selection to the All Star game for Saad, who prior to this season had played on the Stanley Cup winning Chicago Blackhawks.

Now it looks like it is Saad’s time to shine.

When asked by BlueJackets.com about the game Saad said:

“It’s really cool, and obviously it’s a huge honor, to be able to be recognized with so many incredible players in this league and represent the Blue Jackets, it’s something I’m really looking forward to.”

Saad is also second on the team in p/60 only behind Scott Hartnell, a very encouraging sign that he has been efficient in the time given to him. While it still is early to determine the winner of the Saad-Anisimov trade, the Jackets have to be happy with their newly acquired player and now soon to be All Star.

Winter is coming…

On January 22nd (my birthday, don’t worry, you don’t have to get me anything) the Winter Park at McFerson Commons will be open for 31 days till February 21st. The Winter Park was a big hit last year and will be a welcome addition to downtown during these cold winter months. Adding to the fun on January 22nd (still my birthday) the Blue Jackets will have an outdoor practice open to the public. It isn’t often you get to see the team practice but now you get the added benefit of the players doing so in the elements.

Now let’s just hope it stays this cold for a little while longer.
