Week 18: Buckeye State Hockey Mailbag

.

Week 18 of the season, we have all gone through this together. What a moment! On to the mailbag we go.

His name is John Robert Tortorella.

This is a question that gets asked nearly every week. I believe and many other pundits believe that the Blue Jackets will be sellers at the deadline. Any veteran on this team is probably going to be seen as movable; especially players that carry term/money. So you will keep hearing names like Scott Hartnell, Fedor Tyutin and Gregory Campbell mentioned. The trade deadline is less than a month away, so if these names keep popping up over and over again, don’t be surprised.

The Blue Jackets knew it was unlikely that Nathan Horton would ever play again so they wanted someone who would at least be on the ice. Obviously that hasn’t been the case with David Clarkson as he has been injured recently. This obviously wasn’t the plan but for now they are going to have to deal with it. Clarkson will get back on the ice sometime soon but Horton doesn’t have that luxury. It is as simple as that.

Hey look it’s Nick, our co-founder! Give him a follow and tell him to get back to writing.

As Aaron Portzline pointed out earlier today the team has no plans for sitting Bobrovsky down for the season. I am sure he would like to get back on the ice though, as this isn’t the ideal season for the veteran netminder. I wouldn’t say Korpisalo is the netminder of the future but he is a player to keep an eye on as he develops. He is going through a very nice stretch right now but as we all know goalies are voodoo. Korpisalo may just be going through a hot streak at the moment but that remains to be seen. He will need to play more games for the team to get a real sense of who he is. It will be interesting to see how Torotorella shares the crease once McElhinney comes back, who will get the bulk of the starts?

10 duck-sized McDavids.

UNTIL NEXT WEEK!
