PJD is on vacation, STILL. During this time, we’ve decided we’ll take a quick look at potential Minnesota Vikings draft picks for the second or later rounds. With so many needs and so many draft picks to get this team back to a place where we can at least pretend they are respectable, we’ll have plenty of ground to cover. Let us know what you think of each prospect in the comments, and whether or not they’d be a good fit or impact player, and of course if you can think of a funny nickname for them.
Today, we look at Notre Dame safety Harrison Smith, grudingly, because everyone hates Notre Dame.
From ESPN’s draft analysis, which probably speaks HIGHLY of Smith because THEY probably LOVE Notre Dame, which is another reason to hate ESPN:

Here’s a frightening thought: Harrison Smith is the second best rated safety in a class that doesn’t have that great of safety prospects, and is still only 39th overall, meaning he’ll go sometime in the second round. Remind you of anyone? Like a Tyrellington Johnstonian, perhaps? Another highly prospected safety that went in the second round to a team that was run by buffoons? Well, I don’t actually think that Harrison Smith can be as bad as Tyrell Johnson, IF the Vikings were to select him, but the situation is enough to make you weep into a pillow, softly. On the plus side, Smith actually has a measurable pedigree behind him, having played at Notre Dame against what you could probably call “real” college football competition. I didn’t actually watch him play, per se, but I have watched Notre Dame the past several years, and they do suck. I mean, both suck as a school and have sucked (or at least underperformed?) as a team. I don’t know how much of that is Smith’s fault, or what, but when all I remember from Notre Dame’s 2011 season is last second losses to shitty throwing quarterbacks because your defensive backfield (including Smith!) couldn’t stop said shitty quarterback, I get nervous. On the other hand … isolated, taking Notre Dame out of the equation? Smith looks like a nice player that could fill a huge hole in the defense. The only question; would you spend a second round pick to do it, knowing all the other issues on this team?
Then ask this; would you spend a second round pick on a player from NOTRE DAME?!!? FUCK YOU JIMMY CLAUSEN!! God I hate Notre Dame.
What say you?
