Patriots vs. Vikings: List of Favorite Vikings

Dozier

Still basking in the glow of a forceful ass kicking by the Patriots on Sunday, I want to take a moment to revisit my list of favorite Vikings players. I vowed to start doing this after every game to see how long it would take for Teddy Bridgewater to get into the top five by basically starting, and it’s beginning to look like it won’t take too long! Thanks Matt!

Either way, there’s been a BIT of a shake up in the top five this week. In prior rankings, it’s probably no surprise to have seen All Pro running back and NFL MVP Adrian Peterson ranked number one. Of course, there have been some off the field issues with Peterson in the last week that would make ranking him as my favorite Vikings player on the team a little bit uncouth, let’s say. Will he ever return to the list? We’ll see how the process plays out, but YIKES, MAN.

Anyway, here is my current ranking after week two:

1. Cordarrelle Patterson (Previous Week: 2, +1 this week)

With Peterson out of the picture, Patterson is effective the best player on the team, and probably one of the coolest. He smiles during the middle of ever single play (honestly, look at at close up picture from him in-game), and is pretty much always a home run threat. I have no illusions that he doesn’t do crazy shit at home that would make white people want him to be released from the team, we just haven’t learned about it yet. And so, he’s my favorite Vikings player right now.

2. Harrison Smith (Previous Week: 3, +1 this week)

Ever week “Dirty Harry” does a little something extra that makes you realize he’s a f*cking awesome safety, and football player. This week, he stuffed a run on third and one at the line of scrimmage, forcing the Patriots to punt early. He HAMMERED a dude. It was awesome. He might be the best defensive player we’ve had in years.

3. Anthony Barr (Previous Week: Unranked, N/A)

Anthony Barr makes the ranking because I like what I’ve seen out of him, and I don’t get why people seem to think he’s been playing so awful so far this year. He hits hard, is quick, and rushes the QB, and has been one of the top leaders in team tackles through two games of his rookie campaign in a complex defensive scheme. WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE BITCHING ABOUT ALL THE TIME?!

4. Josh Robinson (Previous Week: Unranked, N/A)

He just didn’t get called for poor pass coverage that I saw this past week, unlike Xavier Rhodes and Captain Munnerlyn, and since Robinson made a sweet interception the week before, he’s still here by default. Basically, a RINGING endorsement.

5. Everson Griffen (Previous Week: 4, -1 this week)

He didn’t really do anything against the Patriots, but I still like him.

Every other player? It’s basically a shit show. At this moment, I don’t care for you nor am I interested in you suiting up for my team. Basically, I dislike more players on this team right now than I actually do like, which is super frustrating. You?
