PJD’s Week 14 Recap: Audibles for the Win

telfair2

After failing to move the ball for much of the second half in Sunday’s game against the Jets, Teddy Bridgewater went into overtime tied 24-24 and pulled a Rex Grossman, kind of, when he said, “Fuck it, I’m going bubble screen.” But then the bubble screen went deep – 87 yards deep – to Jarius Wright and the Vikings won in dramatic fashion, and it was pretty awesome.

Granted, it never should have come to this. I have no idea why Teddy Ballgame can’t move the fucking ball between the twenties unless his nuts are in a vise. I don’t know if that’s his problem try to process the defense, which is in a different set maybe with more looks for him that throw him of guard, or if his teammates and talent level around him sucks (especially on the offensive line, again) or if Norv Turner just needs to be shot off to Mars in a rocket without cryogenic freezing. I don’t know what it is. But, when shit gets real Teddy delivers. Time and again.

It’s bizarre, because this doesn’t happen to the Minnesota Vikings. We have quarterbacks who throw crippling interceptions at key moments in an NFC Championship game, asshole kickers who kick balls wide left, right, and anywhere but down the middle, and moron coaches who take knees. Almost none of those things happened today though, except for the kicker, who is maybe just getting his yips out. Regardless, it was pure load boners.

Of course, it’s not all Teddy here. The defense held their own. That shouldn’t be anything impressive against the Jets, but somehow it was. It was impressive because they did their job, for the most part. They held the Jets to field goals in the second half, and kept the offense alive. Teddy also had some help from unexpected places, namely Charles Johnson who I guess I have to learn more about now. The man-who-should-be-Cordarrelle had 4 receptions for 103 yards, and was paired with Jarius Wright’s 4 receptions for 123 yards, both guys with a touchdown. Even Greg Jennings had some clutch, veteran plays. Overall it was pretty exciting, and bodes well for the future.

Also of note?

LOL. Eat shit Geno Smith.

Notice how long it took me to even get to a place where I could mention Percy Harvin? Think he’d rather be catching balls from Teddy Bridgewater over Geno Smith? Or do you think he doesn’t give a shit because he won an undeserved Super Bowl? Probably the latter. Either way, enjoy your time in New York, Percy. *~~**BIG LIGHTS WILL INSPIRE YOU!!!!**~~~*~

Anyway. Good win. 6-7 on the season, I heard the announcers say “Minnesota” and “playoffs”, so things aren’t completely dead yet. This is pretty much where I thought they’d be at, but with a win over Buffalo as well. If Mike Zimmer even gets this team anywhere close to finishing at 8-8, he probably deserves a reach around. Or a Coach of the Year trophy. Either one.
