Blair Walsh’s missed field goal took a little bit of the heat off Adrian Peterson in the wake of the Vikings’ 10-9 wild-card loss to the Seahawks on Sunday.
The Vikings led the Seahawks 9-7 in the fourth quarter when Peterson fumbled in Vikings territory. The Seahawks converted the turnover into Steven Hauschka’s 46-yard field goal that turned out to be the game-winner.
Walsh missed a 27-yard field goal with 26 seconds left, but Peterson is accepting his share of the blame and says he’ll focus on protecting the ball better during the offseason.

According to TeamRankings.com, Peterson fumbled eight times this season, more than any other running back. He lost only four of those fumbles, but his drop on Sunday cost the Vikings another shot at the Cardinals. The Vikings lost 23-20 at Arizona in Week 14.
Peterson won his third rushing title this season, gaining 1,485 yards. But he turns 31 in March and while the Vikings seem to be set up well for the future, time is running out for Peterson to get a championship ring.
