The Vikings roster has more depth than any of the most recent off-seasons. With that in mind, we take a look at which Vikings we can’t afford to lose and what makes them so valuable to the team.
.) Teddy Bridgewater – Shaun Hill has been a reliable back-up throughout the league for 15 years. But, when Hill had to step in for Teddy last season, he looked ready for retirement. Losing the leader of your team would be a huge blow to any team.
.) Adrian Peterson – The Vikings went a season without their MVP, but his presence last year reminded fans why we can’t go through that again.
.) Stefon Diggs – When you take a look at the depth chart, it’s hard to believe that Diggs (a 5th round pick in last year’s draft) is our leading wide out. If Diggs were to go down, that would leave us with Treadwell, who’s a rookie and… a whole group of “maybes.”
.) Joe Berger – Although John Sullivan is said to be healthy after missing most of last season, Berger actually might be the more reliable option at this point in time – especially after he stepped in and had a pro bowl caliber season in 2015-2016. Berger has the ability to play all over the line, but if Sullivan can’t go (as I expect)… Berger would be our anchor.
.) Harrison Smith – Harry is our best defensive player by far. So, obviously losing him would sting. But, more so than that – we really don’t have a stud backup to him. Again, we are left with some question marks and I just don’t see Sendejo filling that gap well.
