Maurice Jones-Drew agrees to terms on a contract with the Oakland Raiders late Thursday night, league sources confirmed to CSN Bay Area.
Looks like the shoe fits for running back Maurice Jones-Drew. Growing up in Oakland, this was his dream to play on the Raiders, in his own backyard and now it’s a reality. He is back in home with the Silver and Black.
Jones-Drew met with general manager Reggie McKenzie on Thursday evening at the team facility and began discussing team plans and negotiations.
The Raiders were in great need of a strong consistent rushing presence to lead the unit of the unreliable backs on the current roster. Darren McFadden is talented but is prone to injury. Latavius Murray is unproven after missing his rookie year with an ankle injury and their latest edition Kory Sheets has only had success playing in Canada.
Today ESPN Adam Schefter reported the Raiders signed Jones-Drew to a three-year deal.
Per a Raiders source, Oakland has agreed to a three-year deal with Maurice Jones-Drew, pending a physical. (As @AdamSchefter said)
