Last night sucked. This much is certainly true. It’s tempting to say that it can’t get worse, but we know it can because the Pirates have lost a game 20-0 this year and because we’ve seen the Pirates lose more than ten in a row more recently than is healthy. It can get worse. But it won’t. Besides last night, this losing streak hasn’t been nearly as ugly as the historic seven-gamer in April. It just feels worse because it’s been longer.
Of course, the Pirates would draw Mark Buehrle as they try to snap a ten-game losing streak. Ross Ohlendorf goes for the Pirates and will try to snap out of his season-long slump on the mound. His last start was one of his better outings in terms of strikeouts, as he managed to not walk more hitters than he whiffed, but he still allowed ten hits and six runs. The Pirates could use a good start from him tonight. They could also use some offense.
First pitch is 7:05. Clemente/Cangelosi is after the jump:
Not sure what this is? Check here and here. Short version: in the comments pick the Pirates you think will be most and least valuable in today’s game. If you haven’t jumped aboard yet, it’s been a lot of fun so far and now’s as good a time as any to join in.
Will update when I get home, but as I’m still at work and will be here a while, that might not be for a while.
