DK reports this afternoon that the Dodgers are interested in trading for Paul Maholm to bolster their rotation. There aren’t a whole lot of guys on this roster with trade value right now besides the young players that are obviously untouchable, but Maholm is definitely one of them as a 28-year old left-handed inning eater.
Losing Maholm would make an already-awful rotation worse, but besides McCutchen, Alvarez, Tabata, Walker, and Lincoln, I don’t think anyone on the active roster should be untouchable right now. The fact is that the Pirates may have a foundation in place with those young guys, but a foundation isn’t a house. Obviously “the Dodgers are interested” doesn’t mean that Huntington is actively trying to trade Maholm, but he has to be listening.
