Trade rumors are flying fast and furious right now, but the Pirates still have to actually take the field in St. Louis tonight to play the Cardinals. Since most of the rumors involve pitchers right now and Jeff Karstens is starting, there’s unlikely to be a dramatic early-game exit like Xavier Nady’s a couple years ago, but it seems like there’s a pretty good chance a move will happen tonight. If it does, I’ll give that it’s own post and this can remain the game-thread.
But in the mean-time, the Pirates play a Cardinal team that’s right in the thick of a playoff race and so taking a series from them after taking one from the Rockies would make this a pretty awesome week, as far as I’m concerned. Jeff Karstens pitches for the Bucs against Chris Carpenter. First pitch tonight is at 8:10, Clemente/Cangelosi is after the jump.
First pitch is at 8:40 again, tonight. Clemente/Cangelosi is after the jump.
Not sure what this is? Check here and here. Short version: in the comments pick the Pirates you think will be most and least valuable in today’s game. If you haven’t jumped aboard yet, it’s been a lot of fun so far and now’s as good a time as any to join in.
Two day scoreboard update extravaganza! Things are not so pretty here; most of the points that got moved around were negatives for Garrett Jones’s Wednesday Clemente and Paul Maholm’s Thursday Cangelosi.
