Slumping

The Pirates have scored twice in their last four games and are on a five-game losing streak in which they’re averaging exactly one run a game. You don’t need me to tell you how bad that is or how hard it is to watch. Tonight they try to break out of this slump against Mike Leake, who’s got a nice 2.51 ERA in his two starts this year against the Pirates even though his peripherals against the Bucs are not all that great.

Paul Maholm starts for the Bucs tonight after getting shelled by Colorado in his last start. The last two times he’s gotten shelled he’s bounced back with great starts. That’s not at all predictive, but it won’t keep me from being hopeful. First pitch is at 7:05, Clemente/Cangelosi is after the jump.

Not sure what this is? Check here and here. Short version: in the comments pick the Pirates you think will be most and least valuable in today’s game. If you haven’t jumped aboard yet, it’s been a lot of fun so far and now’s as good a time as any to join in.

Update when I get home.
