How many times have the Pirates played on the west coast this year? Is it 100? It feels like 100. It’s probably less than that. Anyways, the Pirates are certainly playing at least a little better since the All-Star break, though they’ve struggled quite a bit with first place-type teams. The Padres are certainly that, so it’d be nice to see the Pirates hang in there for this three-game set.
The thought of the Pirates’ offense in Petco is kind of scary, though, and I’m afraid we might have another series like the St. Louis set on our hands. In any case, things kick off at 10:05 tonight with Jeff Karstens and Wade LeBlanc on the mound. If the Pirates are going to sneak out a win in this series, LeBlanc is probably a good place to start. Clemente/Cangelosi is after the jump.
Not sure what this is? Check here and here. Short version: in the comments pick the Pirates you think will be most and least valuable in today’s game. If you haven’t jumped aboard yet, it’s been a lot of fun so far and now’s as good a time as any to join in.
I would just like to point out that the graph from Saturday’s game is the most insane WE% graph I’ve ever seen. We were passing it around in the stands during the George Thorogood concert in semi-disbelief. Sunday’s game was … less interesting.
