It’s nice to have a reminder that the Pirates can win a baseball game every once in a while, isn’t it? And it’s always even nicer when that win comes because of guys like James McDonald, Pedro Alvarez, and Andrew McCutchen.
I finally got a chance to really sit down and watch McDonald tonight, and it was hard not to be impressed. He didn’t get many swings and misses on his changeup tonight, but his curve was awesome and he kept his fastball in the 92-94 range even as his pitch count went up. Three starts in and I’m still pretty impressed every time he takes the mound.
On offense, McCutchen and Alvarez contributed two hits, McCutchen went yard, Garrett Jones had a big hit and, who am I kidding …
WHY CAN’T THE PIRATES PLAY LIKE THIS ON THE ROAD EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, GODDAMMIT?!?
