Bring out the brooms?

Just when it seemed like the Pirates were never going to look like a competent baseball team again, they’ve fired off two straight wins against the Braves and knocked them out of first place in the NL East. Now they’ve got a chance to pull off their first sweep since their May 4-6 sweep of the Cubs at PNC. I’m not joking about that and in fact, they’ve only put together one winning streak of longer than two games (June 30 – July 2 against the Cubs and Phils) since then. I don’t want to even think about how staggering that fact is, so I’m going to ignore it for now and maybe try to process it later.

Zach Duke gets to try and continue what Brian Burres and James McDonald started earlier in the series by shutting the Braves down for a third straight start. He’ll face Derek Lowe, who’s been having a pretty rough go of things the last couple months. First pitch tonight is at 7:05, Clemente/Cangelosi is after the jump.
