Yes, the Pirates crushed a community college today. But isn’t beating a community college 21-1 on a four-hitter what Major League teams are supposed to do? We’re just two years removed from the Pirates’ taxi squad losing 6-4 to the Manatees at the end of spring training, so I’ll take a 21-1 thrashing with some nice pitching performances (Aaron Thompson and Michael Crotta both had 1-2-3, 3 K innings) and a few guys smacking the crap out of the ball. It doesn’t count for anything, but at least we don’t have to spend a day trying to read into what went wrong. “Real” spring training games start tomorrow. And no, I won’t be doing a daily spring training recap.
