[Johnson] throws hard, he strikes out a lot of guys, he doesn’t walk many hitters, he’s pretty much everything you’d expect to give the Pirates fits over the course of a game.

OK, so it doesn’t exactly take rocket science to figure out that Josh Johnson is good at baseball. Certainly, though, the Pirates knew what they were in for tonight before the first pitch. Then Paul Maholm failed to get out of second inning jam by taking a line drive off the body and falling down instead of making the play. Then he tried to sneak the same pitch on the outside corner past Josh Johnson three straight times, which is something that even the worst hitting pitchers don’t fall for. After Johnson’s two-RBI single, the Marlins had a seemingly insurmountable 2-0 lead.
Actually, it was insurmountable. Luckily, the Marlins can’t pitch Johnson every night.
