As always. Bud Selig’s Arcane Blackout Rules kept me from watching tonight’s game against the Nationals. Which means that I wasn’t able to see how the Pirates managed to lead off the fourth inning with a walk, single, and double, but manage not to score thanks to a bad baserunning decision and the insane idea to try a bunt with Paul Maholm at the plate and CHRIS SNYDER on third base.
And I definitely wasn’t watching when Clint Hurdle inexplicably decided to go to Jose Ascanio with a runner on first base and one out in the seventh inning of a tie game. Because it’s not like he had his entire bullpen at his disposal and the light-hitting Danny Espinosa up.
You know what? Sometimes Bud Selig’s Arcane Blackout Rules aren’t as bad as I make them out to be.
