Here comes interleague play

As a Pirate fan, you already know that the only thing worse than Miller Park is Interleague Play. It’s ridiculous how terrible the Pirates are against the American League and it’s frustrating and hard to watch every year. Generally the Pirates get away with being the red-headed stepchild of the NL Central and get the boring as crap non-interleague series vs. an NL West team as this whole thing kicks off. While it sucks being ignored, losing a lot of games is worse.

This year, though, the Pirates open things up with a three-game series at home against the Tigers. Jim Leyland apparently feels bad for the Bucs as he’s starting Don Kelly at third base tonight, but I’m not sure how much that will help. Brad Penny pitches for the Tigers, Jeff Karstens for the Bucs. First pitch tonight is at 7:05. If the Pirates win, people will start talking about .500 again.
