Swapping Pedros while on a roll

The Pirates look to keep their three-game winning streak alive tonight at PNC against the Tigers, but they’re going to have to do it with Pedro Alvarez on the disabled list thanks to his quad problems. Pedro Ciriaco is on his way up from Indianapolis to fill the roster spot, and I assume that we’ll see plenty of Brandon Wood in the next two weeks.

The Pirates rolled up 10 runs on the Tigers last night but they face a tough draw tonight with Max Scherzer taking the mound for the Tigers. Scherzer hasn’t been saddled with a loss yet this season, so we can say that either he’s been excellent (he has been) or that he’s due for a loss (his peripherals aren’t much better than they were last year). The Pirates send Kevin Correia out in the hopes that his struggles at PNC will end and they can notch a series win before tomorrow afternoon’s finale.

First pitch tonight is at 7:05. I’m going to miss it as I’m heading out to Greensboro to watch Bryce Harper play.
