In May, the Pirates played mostly well against mostly bad teams. For the rest of June, starting tonight, the Pirates play mostly good teams. The Phillies were this year’s overwhelming pre-season National League favorite and they’re currently just percentage points behind the Indians for baseball’s best record. In the next 3 1/2 weeks, we’re going to find out what this Pirate team really is.
I won’t be around much this weekend, but I should still be able to get gamethreads and maybe some short recaps posted. If you keep an eye on Pulling No Punches, you should see my draft rundown. It’s mostly an amalgamation of everything I’ve written here in the last couple weeks and I’ll post more here on Monday, but that’s how I feel about the draft right now boiled into one long post.
Tonight, Cole Hamels and Jeff Karstens take the mound at 7:05. It’s time for the Road Warrior Buccos to do some damage at home, I think.
