Taking the temperature

It’s Monday, June 20th. The Pittsburgh Pirates are 35-36, facing down ten days through the AL East gauntlet and coming off of a sad-looking sweep at the hands of the Cleveland Indians. They’re dinged up, but they’re going to be for a while and unless Neal Huntington does something (either pulls a trade or makes a roster move he hasn’t made yet), the Pirates we’ve seen play the last two weeks are the Pirates we’re going to see until the All-Star break or later.

So here’s today’s poll question: how many games will the Pirates win in 2011? I said before the season I thought they’d be between 70 and 75 wins, and I still feel like that’s going to be the ultimate case this year. Maybe from right here the lower end of that guess seems a little low, but this next stretch of the Pirates schedule could be pretty brutal and we might all feel differently about this cub in two weeks. So what does everyone else expect? The poll, as always, is in the sidebar, towards the bottom of the page.
