Getting the split

If the first two days of this Nationals’ series has taught us, it’s that even a team with a good bullpen can’t going to win every single one-run game. Yesterday’s Game 2 bullpen meltdown means that the Pirates need a win against Jason Marquis today to split the four-game set with the Nats. Marquis has been pretty solid this year in terms of record (7-2) and ERA (3.62), but he doesn’t strike out a ton of guys and he leans on groundballs quite a bit. The Bucs are countering with Kevin Correia, who’s looking for his eleventh win, which still kind of blows my mind.

First pitch this afternoon is at 1:35. The Pirates are still within 2 1/2 games of the top of the NL Central.
