I'm so happy I still get to use this picture.
Ray Allen is force-feeding generous helpings of crow down the throats of the "Trade Ray" crowd right now. After a 10-15 shooting night last night, Ray spent the 4th quarter destroying the hopes and dreams of the Portland Trailblazers by scoring 11 4th quarter points en route to a 21 point, 5 assist night… leading the Celtics to a 96-76 blowout win in Portland.
After last night's slug fest, both Chuck and I were bracing ourselves for the typical NBA no-show and the first loss of the trip. But the C's stormed out to a big lead… which they built to almost 20 by halftime. Portland cut it to 9 in the 4th quarter… prompting a few people to break into nervous sweats and a few more to start screaming "here we go again."
Nope, not with Ray on the court. He went on a personal 8-0 run to squash the Blazer's hopes of a comeback. He also found Baby with a nice look from the top of the key to make the run 11-0.
Rajon Rondo's night shouldn't overlooked. 10 points and 11 assists… with most of his work being done in the first half. Also important numbers: 21 minutes for KG and 26 minutes for Paul Pierce.
So after a couple of wins where people still found reason to complain, the Celtics came up with a much-needed blowout. Can we be impressed now?
Consider the switch flipped.
