Ohio State Recruiting: Vonn Bell

Ohio State Recruiting: Vonn Bell
Vonn Bell would be a huge part of a strong finish for Ohio State's 2013 recruiting class.

Georgia safety Vonn Bell is one of the top defensive backs in the country in the 2013 class and one of the top recruiting targets left for Ohio State as signing day approaches.

Bell currently lists his top seven schools as: Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, Clemson and Vanderbilt- although he may cut that list soon.

In an effort to pick the right school, Bell and his family have submitted a list of questions to the finalists.

The first [question] was about each school’s education program and how it could help Vonn reach his goal of becoming a college coach someday.

Luke Fickell, Mike Vrabel, Kirk Barton and Anthony Schlegel would all likely have a decent response to that question (throw in Ryan Stamper as well).

It probably wouldn’t hurt to mention Earle Bruce, Bo Pelini, Dick LeBeau, Pepper Johnson, Tim Walton, Fred Pagac, Tim Spencer or Jeff Davidson in that conversation either.

Long list of names short, the Buckeyes are seemingly in good shape under that rating criteria from the Bell family.

The second [question] was about each school’s timeline for graduation and what the plan would be if Vonn got off track.

Ohio State University President Gordon Gee would be a nice tap-in for the response on this one; a role that he has been willing and able to fill recently.

The third [question] was about how quickly he could get on the field and what the school’s plan was for him as a football player.

Urban Meyer himself would likely take the lead on the response to this one, and a quick look at the depth chart, with five of the six players in the three-deep being juniors or seniors, indicates that there will be plenty of opportunity in the secondary at Ohio State in the near future.

Check, check, and check for the Buckeyes.

Throw in that Bell dominated camp at Ohio State in June and decided that he wouldn’t camp anywhere else over the summer- which as far as I can tell has held true- and you have to like the position that Ohio State is in.

Needless to say, Vonn Bell would be a huge addition to the secondary in Columbus. It will be exciting to see if he will become a part of Ohio State’s strong finish to the 2013 recruiting class.

Here are some highlights (of his 180 tackles last season):
