Breaking News: Jeshua Anderson Done With Football

Well, we won’t be seeing catches like this anymore out of #85.  Per Cougfan, Jeshua Anderson has hung up the football cleats and traded ’em in for full-time track spikes.  Grippi has more here

Instant overreaction?  I get it.  The guy isn’t that far off from being an Olympian in the hurdles.  When you are world class at something like that, can you blame the kid for moving in that direction?  The track circuit isn’t just for Olympic glory either.  He could make one hell of a living and set himself up for a long time going to full-time track.

It’s disappointing from a football aspect though.  I think we all were seriously excited at his big-play potential that he flashed initially in ’07, averaging an amazing 31 yards per catch (on just 12 catches, but still).  This hurts the receiver depth as well.  Kevin Norrell has been dismissed from the team, a guy many thought was going to have a breakout year.  And Gino Simone is out this week with the concussion.  The pressure is going to fall to guys like Jared Karstetter, Daniel Blackledge and Jeffrey Solomon to pick up the slack at the position.  But who knows, maybe one door closes, another one opens for another player?

One more thing – can we please stop having news about player X or player Y leaving the program?  That’s enough, thanks.

GO COUGS!
