Good morning Cougs. Kind of weird to see Gameday in the dark, but that’s the way it goes when you set up camp in Eugene. I would imagine the Duck crowd wasn’t exactly there to greet the WSU flag-wavers with open arms, you know, because they are Duck fans? Or maybe they are just indifferent to the whole thing, far too busy to care about anything else but themselves? But anyway, good work today by those on the ground, and thanks to Will Walker for the screen captures.
Meanwhile, good stuff from Grippi re: lots of Crimson on the flights down to Texas. And Thursday’s flight was not only packed, but ran out of vodka, gin AND rum?? NICE WORK COUGS! Grippi points out a good story on Bill Doba from the South Bend Tribune. It’s a good read, and clearly a guy who is enjoying his retirement. I thought it was interesting how he refused comment on the current state of the Cougar program, but I guess it’s not surprising, based on some of what’s been said.
I think Robb Akey made it clear that the former staff isn’t thrilled with some of the things that have come out since Doba’s departure in that article in the Times earlier this month. But what can you do? Pretend the program wasn’t falling apart at the end of Doba’s tenure? Ignore the APR problems, the arrests, the recruiting problems, etc? It is what it is, pure and simple.
That’s it for now. We will be back later, after the game, as well as tomorrow. ENJOY THE NBC BROADCAST today, in what will be the closest thing to a bowl-game feel that we’ve had since ’03. GO COUGS!
