Wow.
In spite of playing a fantastic basketball game for 35 minutes, our boys folded down the stretch and lost 74-69 to the Zags.
(This was a carbon copy of Gonzaga’s loss to Michigan State, by the way)
This is one that we are really, really, REALLY going to want back not only tonight, but season’s end.
Ah, the perils of youth.
Places for me where the game got away:
10:45 Second Half up 13. Miss on two threes that would have put us up 16–inlcuding a rim out by Moore. Then, after missing on our 3rd attempt to extend the lead, Harris scores on an “and one” and brings the game back to 10
7:02 Second Half up 6. Klay rims out a 3 from the baseline. If we get up 9 there, I don’t think we lose.
4:20 Up 62-61. 3 straight turnovers, the last two of which were brutal. With Moore sitting by the scorers table, BONE SHOULD HAVE CALLED A TIMEOUT!
Finally, there’s this thing called Free-Throw Shooting….
That said, despite getting bit by the youth factor, you have to love the upside of this team (who’d have thunk that we’d even be close with Klay Shooting 4 for 79?). Scrappy…Scrappy…Scrapy…
It will be great to see how we respond Saturday..
And despite screwing up by not calling a TO, Bone is a helluva coach…
