Good day Cougs. Lots to get to, so let’s get it started:
- Hey, they are putting us on the TV! It’s true. The season opener is now a 4 PM PST start time, and what do you know but FSN has picked it up. HOORAY TV! Seriously though, I know we were certainly hoping this would come true, and there were a few rumors that this was a possibility, but now we get to see the Cougs kick off 2010, live and in color…..read on for more….
- The 2010 Helmet Schedule has been released! CollegeFootballHelmetSchedule.com has officially rolled ’em out, and you can see all of them here. They post them all in Excel, so many of you should be covered there. But if you want the Pac-10 only version, but don’t have Excel? Relax. I grabbed it from Excel and posted it as a jpeg, so, here you go (note – it probably looks like crap as it appears in this post, but don’t worry. Just click on the graphic and it will open much larger in a new window/tab, and then you can save it or even print it out):
- CollegeFootballNews.com came out with a bunch of Pac-10 rankings, per each offensive position. They ranked QB’s, RB’s, WR’s, TE’s and even the kicker’s. No, they don’t love WSU (surprise). But they do give Jared Karstetter some props, ranking him as the 9th-best wide receiver in the conference. WSU didn’t even have a running back or tight end ranked in their top-10, but I guess that isn’t too much of a shocker. They didn’t like Jeff Tuel (10th out of 10 QB’s) or even Nico Grasu (10th out of 10 kickers). Ouch!
- Teddy Miller hopped on the KIRO airwaves with Kevin Calabro yesterday, and you can give it a listen here. They talked USC probation, plus UW and of course, WSU. If you can stomach the UW love, they do eventually talk Cougs for about 1 minute (note – fast-forward to the 26-minute mark for Miller’s segment, and he starts talking Cougs at about the 36-minute mark). You have to love the long pause after Calabro asks “Washington State, will they win two games this year?” But the answer is good. Miller gives some HOPE to Coug nation!
- Congrats to baseball! Second straight post-season appearance, a two-seed headed for Fayettville, Arkansas to take on Kansas State this Friday, 5:05 PST. WSUCougars.com posted a Youtube video of head coach Donnie Marbut after the team got the bid:[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUQncGl40X4&w=500&h=340]
Again, congrats baseball! Nothing would be sweeter to cap off the WSU sports calendar than to see them roll into Omaha for the College World Series.
That’s it for now. Enjoy your humpday, and as always, GO COUGS!
