WSU GameDay Flag-Spotting, Week Five

WSU GameDay Flag-Spotting, Week Five

A big fat happy Gameday to you Cougs!  And a big thanks to the Gameday flag wavers, once again doing their thing.  This week they are in Eugene, and sure enough, right in the middle of the fray.  Special thanks to Will Walker for his high-quality screen grabs too (*much better than the channelsurfing.net screens that I have tried to get myself!):

Anyone notice more school flags showing up?  I know I saw two LSU flags, one purple and one gold.  I also saw a purple TCU flag, as well as a West Virginia sign of some kind.  Hmm, maybe we’re going to see this kind of thing more and more?  I guess with the all the positive pub that the WSU flag has received over the years, you probably will see some imitators pop up here and there.  But as they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  They just want in on the action, so you really can’t blame them for trying.  BUT WE WERE FIRST! And Herbstreit even signed our flag:

And how about EA rocking the school-marm look with the glasses?  Maybe it’s a whole northwest thing, where it’s gray and cool and nobody cares about your appearance before sunrise?  Whatever works I guess.  Anyway, nice to see the flag out there again, as the tradition just keeps rolling on.

Moving on, remember the game is on FSN today, 12:30.  If you can’t get to the TV, you should be able to watch in on the old PC, as it appears channelsurfing.net has the game on their list (scroll down to the NCAA games as of 3:30 EST today).

Next, same as last week, Jim Moore is at the Performance Bar & Grill for the game today.  No, he didn’t ask us for a mention this time, but I thought we should do it anyway, creeped from his Facebook page:

Hope you’ll join me and the 710 ESPN Seattle crew at Performance Grill in Auburn tomorrow at 12:30 for the Cougs’ game against UCLA. Matt Baker used to own Village Pub in Magnolia and wants to make Performance Grill (1525 A Street NE) the new Coug hangout for WSU games. Go Cougs!

In “Friday Night Lights” action, looks like QB commit Cody Clements is looking just fine after a knee issue a few weeks ago.  He has now thrown for 551 yards and 5 TD’s in his last two games, so all appears well.  Also mentioned is Bishop Sankey, the G-Prep running back who remains a WSU commit.  Sankey ran for 191 yards and four TD’s on just 15 carries in Prep’s win last night.

Finally, Grippi has you covered with the daily links and such.  Good info on new commit Tana Pritchard too, straight from his uncle, Jack Thompson.  We could use some big hitters at linebacker!  And bad news on Dan Spitz, as it looks like the entire year is now a wash as he won’t be coming back from shoulder surgery.  Disappointing 2010 for that young man, and you just hope he is healthy and ready to compete next year.

All for now.  We’ll be back after the game with a post of some kind, so feel free to drop by.  GO COUGS!
