Martin Stadium Entrance Song

Martin Stadium Entrance Song

Happy Monday Cougar Fans!

Recently I was stumbling through the Free Message Board over at Cougfan, since I’m a paying member of their site, normally I avoid the ignorance that is the free board and stick to the Luxury Suites, and came across an interesting topic that I wanted to bring up for discussion over here.

With the Athletic Department revamping the Cougar Football Saturday Experience, Cougfan poster JohnnieAppleCoug brought up an awesome topic!  He mentioned the need for our football team to have a signature entrance song from the tunnel onto the field.  For as long as I can remember, the CMB has lined up on both sides of the tunnel and the team has come out to the Jaws theme or the WSU Fight Song.  If I remember correctly, the lone exception was sometime around 2002 or 2003 when they came out to a highlight clip with Seven Nations Army by the White Stripes Blaring.  In addition to a pre-game song, the other things we do to fire the team and crowd up is the Cougar Chomp to the Jaws Theme.  I thought it was cool and original for a few years until I realized it was started by the University of Florida.

JAC went on to say,

“With the SW Corner enclosed,  Martin has the potential to be very loud.   I’m also hoping they cantileaver a roof line out over the luxury boxes on the Southside as well to make it even louder.  With the renovations it would be great to see a new tradition that fired up fans and players and woed recruits when they came for a visit.”

Clearly I thought this was an awesome topic, so let’s take a brief look at what some other schools do, and then come up with some songs/ideas of our own.

Wisconsin:

LSU:

Oklahoma State:

So these are a couple of thoughts.  I’ve been to about half the stadiums in the Pac 12, and have yet to see an entrance that I like.  I’ve witnessed LSU’s first hand from the field and it’s pretty awesome.  Garth Brooks’ Callin’ Baton Rogue blaring while a living tiger is paraded around the field. whose cage is then parked next to the visitor’s lockerroom.  I’m sure PETA would love it if we brought a live Cougar back!

What do you want to see or hear to get you fired up on Game Day?

Have a great Monday!
