Hello everybody. Cletis here. In case you missed my two other posts, I am a proud graduate of Indiana University.
I am writing today because Sutra is still trying to find the brain cells he lost in California following his graduation. Apparently, Sutra has recently become “Dr. Sutra”–having received his PhD in “Master of the Universe Studies.”
So, with Sutra out of commission for this week, I was once again asked to write in his stead. So, if you want to check out what ole Cletis has in store for you this week, then read on.
While the college football season is 79 days (or so) away, we are about a month away from the usual start of NFL training camp(s). And, as we all know, the NFL is currently marred in a doozy of a lock-out.
Don’t know about you all, but outside of watching my beloved Hoosiers play whatever on the Big Ten network, NFL football is pretty much me life. I mean, when you have the second coming of Johnny Unitas to watch every week, well, you know EXACTLY how it is that you are going to spend every Sunday between September and January.
That said, if there’s anything that gets us Hoosiers in a tuss, its the prospect of millionaires and billionaires quarreling over how to divide a paltry ONE BILLION dollars in profit. And, while recent news indicates that the NFL lock-out is soon to come to an end, I have already arrived at the point where I am a bit turned off.
So, I found myself to be surprisingly turned on a few weeks back when I heard about a potential remedy to the NFL lockout.
*******
Two weeks ago, I found myself mistakenly turning my radio away from the Fox Sports affiliate in New York to ESPN radio at about 11:00am. While ESPN is my usual home station during the day (my job is washing Sutra’s cars), 11:00am is usually Dan Patrick time.
But on this day, I found myself listening to the Herd. And low and behold, Mr. Colin Cowpie had Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott on his program. And in his true visionary form, Mr. Scott laid out a surprising bit of news…
Specifically, Mr. Scott announced that he and the Pac-12 were actively exploring moving Pac-12 games to Sundays if the NFL lockout continued into the season. And that left me to wonder: IF those NFL rich boys decided to stick all of our passions up their backsides over the next coming months, watching College Football wouldn’t be a bad alternative, right?.
And, while I personally am not that enamored about watching CAL play Utah–I found myself getting pretty excited about watching the Paul Wulff-led Cougars take the national stage every week.
Imagine it: Weekly adds on Fox highlighting Washington State as the late game on Sunday afternoon!
So, you tell me, would you sacrifice the NFL for one year in order for the Cougs and the Pac-12 to gain much needed national exposure?
Personally, I still kind of hope not. But, if the Cougs can figure out how to turn the corner this year, count this Indiana boy as one that could really find himself on the WSU bandwagon on Sundays this fall.
All for now.
Go Hoosiers!
