Hello Followers. Hope you’re doing great!
As for me, well, thanks to Randy Wright’s 320 yard and 3 TD performance, Sutra’s 3rd Almae Mater, the UC Davis Aggies, thrashed the University of Texas San Antonio 38-17. Mind you, not a huge upset, but given that UTSA is under strong consideration for WAC membership, it was a GREAT day to be an Aggie!
WOWZERS!!!!!
In other news, the WSU Cougars went listless into this homecoming night following a 44-14 trouncing by the Nerds of the (Pac-12) North.
Couple of Quick Notes (Hear that Huddy!):
- As I noted on Twitter (www.twitter.com/cougsutra), the first half marked the GUTTIEST half of football in the Wulff era. Simply put, the defense was physical and fearless, and the offense seem JUST poised enough to maybe make this a game in the 2nd half–especially since our touch occurred right at the end of the first (we went to intermission down just 10-7).
- But then, per the Kahn’s keys from yesterday, we got the ball to start the second half. And, after Barton returned the kickoff to the 50, it seemed we were in business to be really in this one, if not in a position to steal it. But, alas, on the next two possessions, Sturdy called two of the DUMBEST running plays that I have seen in some time. The result: Two critical three and outs that essentially put the game away.
- Stanford’s D swarmed us all night–especially those bubble screens that worked twice early but none of the subsequent 13 plays we ran it (Sturdy, what happened tonight, bud)? But lets face it, they’re pretty good.
- This just in: Andrew Luck is really good. As the end of the game showed us, Stanford was going to eventually run us off the field no matter what. But, I thought our D did well–especially since we had 130 yards of offense heading into our late 4th quarter drive. I mean, had you told me that we’d have 130 yards after 3 quarters, I would have given you a 59-7 final.
Final Toughts:
We’re not elite. And really, that is what this game showed us. Not a lot more, not a lot less.
Karstetter needs to look at himself in the mirror HARD this week. Simply put, right now, he is NOT a Pac-12 receiver of consequence. When the going got tough and physical, Kars folded. That has to change if we want to get to five or six wins. Or four for that matter.
Tuel was Rusty. Nuff Said.
Strap it On. Oregon State is NOT a good football team. So, next week we’ll head to Quest with Paul Wulff’s job on the line.
And that’s the Truth, Ruth.
All for Now. Go Cougs.
