Thank god it is finally the weekend Coug fans. As an aspiring young journalist, I can certainly say this was the most feedback I’ve ever received for a column criticizing Paul Wulff. I nearly passed out when I heard Kevin Calabro call my name on 710 ESPN Seattle Wednesday afternoon. To be frank, I’ve always liked the man but truly doubted his coaching abilities. The column I wrote in this week’s Evergreen was certainly reactionary, but the fact remains that there are coaches out of work right now who could lead the program back to a level of respectibility.
Click on the jump to read who is going to crank out wins this weekend….ASU 42 Colorado 14: Brock Osweiler is going to have an absolute field day against the Buffs. Last I checked, those guys were playing wide receivers at corner to make up for their lack of depth in their secondary. No team that does that is going to win in the Pac-12. (unless you are facing a Chris Ball coached defense)
Cal 27 UCLA 13: Last I checked, Rick Neuheisel has totally lost the boys of Westwood. Regardless of the Weasel’s coaching ability, he isn’t going to have a bowl team with Kevin Prince as their starting quarterback. It just shows you that having 4 and 5 star athletes on both lines and at the skill positions doesn’t make a damn bit of difference if you don’t have a competent quarterback
Oregon State 17 Utah 21: This game really feels like a toss-up. Sure, the Ute’s have struggled in their first year in the Pac-12. But the Beavers still aren’t an especially good football team despite what they did to WSU last weekend in Clink. Here’s to hoping Mike Riley quits fist-pumping down the sidelines and reverts back to the reality of having a freshman quarterback.
Stanford 56 USC 21: Lane Kiffin just has one of those faces you want to smack as hard as you can, doesn’t he? And why does it sound like he has marshmellows stuffed in his cheeks when he talks? These are the questions that keep me up at night my friends.
Washington 42 Arizona 35: The Dawgs will pull out another close one on Muttlake despite giving up over 400 yards passing to Nick Foles. In turn, Nick Holt will be fined for violating Pac-12 dress code for wearing his pants exceedingly high.
WSU 21 Oregon 63: My plan for the game is to take a shot every time Oregon picks up a first down. The game starts at noon, so i should be checking into the Pullman ER right around 12:37.
Go Cougs.
