Hello Cougar Nation and The Ball Hater Army. Hope you’ve had a great week.
As for me, well, I don’t know about you all, but this feels to me like the biggest College Football weekend in years. Tonight, we get the incredible smash-mouth match-up of LSU and Bama in Tuscaloosa.
Then, later tonight, the Defeateds have a once in a lifetime chance to close out the old Muttlake Digs with a win over the defending conference champions, the Oregon Yucks.
And of course, before both of those games our Cougars face a must win game against a Berkeley Bears team that WILL NOT BECOME BOWL ELIGIBLE if they lose this one to us.
So, lots and lots of bowl implications on the line tonight, and a few jobs might be on the line tonight as well.
What do we make of all of it? Well, even though we Cougars hate to draw from the words of our rivals, this quote seemed just too good to pass on…..
Per the Dawgfather in an interview with Benedict Bob a few months ago:
“I don’t care what level you are at unless you run the ball, if you can’t run the ball you are really in trouble, and if you can’t play defense you are in more trouble”
Yep, sure would seem that whatever teams run the ball the best and plays the most consistent D will be happy heading into the second weekend of November. For the record, I have CAL, Oregon, and Alabama as the most llikely candidates to do just that.
In the meantime, use this thread to comment on the game if you wish–I will not be able to watch today, so I will be looking for your comments and insights throughout the evening.
Also, LucasCoug is on the scene tonight, so be sure to follow him on Twitter for some alchohol induced insights on the game. I know I will.
Go Cougs.
WIN THIS FRICKING GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!
