Hello Followers. Hope your week is off to a great start.
As is often the case in the game off life, occasionally something comes up which throws off the old post schedule on the WSU Football Blog. And such is the case today, where the mighty Longball got corralled into some stupid work responsibilities whilst doing “bizness” in Omaha, Nebraska.
In any case, when one of us is unable to make our regularly scheduled blog appearance, we’ll occasionally have a short blurb callled a “Stupid Post,” (which should not be confused with our other posts which are just often plain stupid)…Anyhow, the purpose of a Stupid Post, is simply to stir a little conversation–assuming you are all so inclined.
So, if you want to check out the topic of today’s Stupid Post, then click on the jumperoo, won’t you???

Followers, those of you who have been reading since the first of the year know that I have offered a few nicknames for members of the 2012-2013 roster. As a result, we now have the Hair Raid defense, and even better, we now have the mighty RG5.
What we don’t have, at least that I am aware of, is a nickname for our soon-to-be All-American wide receiver, Marquess Wilson.
But it sure seems important to do so.
When I have thought about what to nickname old #86, I have taken a couple of different angles. The first is to look at his initials and try to come up with something–something that builds from “MW,” although without knowing his middle name, that has come up a bit short…
The second angle that I have taken is to examine the way that he plays: Lots of flash and dash that is coupled with a long-stride “glide” that feels pretty reminiscent of old school guys like Billy Whiteshoes Johnson.
Ultimately–and perhaps much to his chagrine–Marquess comes across to me as more Old School Soul than Contemporary Hip Hop. And as a result, the closest that I can get toward merging his initials with his game is through the following nick-name:
MOTOWN (MWTOWN)
Of course, it is up to you, the faithful, as to whether or not the nickname carries any legs. And if not, feel free to give some other ideas. After all, if we can’t come up with a great nickname for our own Superstar, what good are we as a fan base?
All for now. Go Cougs.
