Greetings Cougs, and a happy Monday to you and yours.
So with the fourth of July week officially in the rear-view, it’s back to the grind around here. That said, we ran with another episode of “The WSU Football Blogfather Show” last night, or for your geeks at home, that would be “SEASON 1, EPISODE 2”, or in geek-speak, “S1E2”. You know, because there are going to be SO MANY SEASONS AND EPISODES to keep track of, we need to give them some sort of code? So this week it’s S1E2, and it’s pretty much 30 minutes of back-and-forth.
This week we talk about the one game that has each of us seriously worried for 2012, you know, that one game where you feel like the Cougs will get it, one that they CAN get, but still has you REALLLLLLYYYYYY worried/nervous/whatever? Anyway, each of us weigh in on our thoughts of the game(s?) that has us worried for our Cougs in 2012.
You can give it a listen here with the embedded player:

NOTE – I stated something as fact in the show, and it wasn’t entirely true. I thought I had read that Cal has just one starter back among their front seven on defense, when in reality they have TWO starters back up there on D. Aaron Tipoti at nose tackle is a returning starter, but they also have two different linebackers who have starting experience from last year coming back in Chris McCain and Dan Camporeale. The different preseason publications treat them differently, as Athlon’s has Camporeale listed as a backup, even though he started a decent amount of games in ’11. They do list McCain as a starter, but he’s not classified as a “returning” starter! Anyway, I was wrong in the part of the show where I was talking about Cal’s defense for 2012.
Also, Jeff Tedford’s record is 79-48, not 84-43. 84-43 would be Mike Leach’s record all-time.
All for now. GO COUGS!
