Hello Followers. Hope you’re having a great Friday evening.
Tonight, our Cougies allowed the Running Rebs to earn their name, and in so doing, escaped with a 35-27 squeeker in front of about 186 people that weren’t Coug fans.
The highlights? Connor Halliday threw for nearly 400 yards, Gabe Marks had 6 catches for 126 yards, and Marquess Wilson had two touches to go along with 110 yards on his birthday.
And the lowlights? Well, Marquess dropped two touchdown passes on his birthday, Leach showed he has no idea how to run out a clock, Deone Bucannon still doesn’t know how to lay off a defenseless wide receiver, and then…
And then there’s our corners.
I mean, what a fricking disgrace! They can’t shed a block, can’t play press coverage, can’t jump a bubble screen…blah, blah, blah..
In fact, our secondary play was SO BAD that there are legitimate questions about whether this team will win another game this season.
Mind you, I do think that this team will beat Colorado and I also suspect we’ll find a way to beat someone else along the way.
But as of right now, this team has 3-9 or 4-8 written all over it because we’re not going to be able to slow teams down enough to get our offense on the field..
In the meantime, it will be interesting to see what happens on the quarterback front, because despite some seriously errant throws and decisions, Halliday looks like the man to me. And during yet ANOTHER rebuilding year, well, it seems like playing a sophomore may be the best route to take.
On the bright side, we just equaled our entire win total for 2010! So, there’s that to build from…..
Enjoy the rest of your evening…
All for now. Go Cougs.
