Happy Thursday Cougs!!!

It was a big weekend all the way around for the Cougs.  Not only did they play well in the spring game in front of a formidable crowd, but they also landed their second commit of the 2012 class!  David Bucannon of Vanden High School came up to the Palouse this past weekend to check out all things WSU and to visit his older brother, standout safety Deone Bucannon.

After watching his bro lay the wood on Saturday, he decided to pledge crimson.  He is the second known verbal of the 2012 cycle, joining Dalen Jones in the Cougar fold.  David projects as a safety at the next level and at 6-2 175 lbs, he will need to hit the weight room to fill his frame out.  Nonetheless, he has the potential to be a standout just like his older brother.

David is not a burner, but he possesses great instincts, has a great nose for the ball, and is a sure tackler.  Sound familiar?  Like his brother, he has also produced greatly at the high school level.  Last year as a junior at Vanden High, he led his team and the league with 108 tackles.  For good measure, he also had 17 receptions for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns.

While the Cougs were his only known offer to this point, Bucannon was receiving interest from schools in the Pac-12, as well as Colorado State and Idaho.

One reason why David might have pulled the trigger on WSU was the chance to play on the same field as his brother, something they never had the chance to do in high school.  By the time David will be a freshman at WSU, Deone will only be a true junior, so the possibility is definitely there.

Welcome to the Cougar family David!!!!

On a separate recruiting note, WSU will be getting two rather large unofficial visitors this weekend, according to Brandon Huffman of Scout.com.  Aziz Shittu, a four-star defensive tackle, will be visiting WSU along with his Buhach Colony High School teamate Matt Cochran, a three-star o-line prospect.
