The Bills today announced QB Trent Edwards, WR Lee Evans, LB Kawika Mitchell, LB Paul Posluszny, P Brian Moorman and S George Wilson have been selected by their teammates as the Buffalo Bills captains for the 2009 season.
Sixth-year wide receiver Lee Evans and third-year quarterback Trent Edwards will represent the offense. Seventh-year linebacker Kawika Mitchell and third-year linebacker Paul Posluszny will represent the defense, while the special teams unit will be represented by ninth-year punter Brian Moorman and fourth-year safety George Wilson.
Each player will have a letter ‘C’ badge affixed to their uniform to signify this honor. Their responsibilities will include assisting in the on-field communication with the game officials.
Mind of Joe:
Take a guess which player this term corspends too, “the captain goes down with the ship.” Or maybe Trent Edwards will be thrown off the ship. The captain badge came into affect in 2007, which if you remember JP Losman had it and ended up being the captian from the bench. Hopefully Edwards won’t follow that trend. I also wonder how Owens took the news, or for that matter had Owens played all of training camp would he of won out over Evans. I’m not trying to stir s#$t up (of course I am), but this is the guy who was jealous of the relationship Romo and Witten had in Dallas last year. God knows, if the Bills struggle, Owens could spout off something as in he should be the leader of the team. Just something to keep an eye on.
